Indonesia – Sumatra – Banda Aceh - Lam Manyang – Lisma, 29-year-old holding her three-year-old daughter. “I still have recurrent nightmares about the tsunami. I see the waves coming back again”. Lisma was able to meet the rest of her family only three days later, in the house of a relative. Her mother and two of her sisters were missing and were never found. “For the first two years we kept on expecting them back. Then we gave up” she says. “The tsunami helped me become a better person” she concludes. “Before I was young and dismissive of any advice my parents would give me. Only when I lost my mother I realized the importance of what she taught me”.
