Indonesia - Sumatra - Banda Aceh - Ulee Lheue - The sea wall in the background has been built after the tsunami, to protect the coastline from erosion. The area, which used to host the customs office of the old port, was badly affected with the tsunami. The small lagoon where the swans are was once land, eaten away by the waves during the tsunami. Ulee Lheue is the most tsunami-affected area in Banda Aceh, also called “the ground zero of the tsunami”. Here, the coastline has receded by 200 metres because of the tsunami.
