Cameroon - Yaoundé - Nancy Joyce Fanke, 27 years old sits next to her children. Fanke works as a waitress in a night bar and has two children she has raised alone since May 2014, when her husband David Fongang left. "Yes, I am angry, because I spent so much money and he failed so many times" she admits sincerely, while caressing her daughter's hair. "It's me alone who has to feed and fund the education of the children." In these years Fongang tried to enter Europe several times, first by climbing the barrier between Morocco and the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla and then by trying to cross the Mediterranean, from Libya to the Italian island of Lampedusa. His failures have taken a toll not only on the family's finances, but on the young man's psyche as well. "It was extremely hard for him to see his friends pass, while he was always rejected. He also saw a lot of his comrades dying during the attempted crossings."
