Nepal - Kathmandu - Chom Prasad Panthi (left), 45-year-old, in his house in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, where he owns a grocery shop along with his wife (right). Originally from the village of Arkhale-5 in the central district of Gulmi, two years ago Panthi went to Qatar to work as a driver in a private company. Instead, he was employed as a garbage collector, receiving 412 USD per month instead of the promised 631. After having worked for ten months for an average of 13 hours per day, Panthi walked out of his two-year-contract and returned to Nepal. “I managed to repay my loan and cover my kids' tuition fees, nothing more than that”, he says.
