In 1981, the military administration went to her parents’ village to look for Juan Carlos. According to their registry he hadn’t shown up for his compulsory military service and was considered a fugitive. “When I held this document in my hands I couldn’t stop crying”, continues Garcia Bernal. “It was the first time I had something proving that one of my brothers had existed.
