more »India - Manipur - Imphal - Okram Aanghai, 70+ years old. From Thongju part two, in front of Manipur University.She sells bedsheets, pillow covers, hand towels, men’s gamcha, and phanek. Most of the district, women they make and then come here to sell in bulk. Most clients are women, sometimes they come together with their husbands. All the products come from Manipur. She has been working here for 45 years. She started by buying threads from Indian merchants, giving them to the localities where women were weaving special handloom in their house, she asked them to make for bedsheets etc. She has three kids, one daughter and two sons, but the daughter died soon after delivery. She just hopes her grandson (son of her unemployed son, he is 22) will get a good job, then she might thinking about retiring. She is sending money for him to study Engineering in Delhi. (She is a very strong woman). One is working in Secretariat because she supported their education, another one is unemployed, she is supporting him. She also spent more than 7 lakhs on his treatment, because he was eating a lot of meat and got some health issues.
