Morocco - Aït Benhaddou - Hassan Kashir, 26, works as a tour guide and background actor in Aït Benhaddou, a village 30 kms from Ouarzazate. Thanks to its perfectly preserved Kasbah, the village has provided the setting for several well-known movies, including Lawrence of Arabia, The Jewel of the Nile, 007 – The Living Daylights, Babel, Queen of the Desert and Prince of Persia. The village hosted also the fighting arena of Gladiator. “It took four months to be build. The film crew spent two weeks here, employing 900 local background actors” explains Kashir, who took part in the movie as a young arena spectator.
