Cambodia - Kampong Speu Province - Chheuon Khorn, 40, and her daughter Lak Chantrea, 15, from Trapang Khorn standing in the garden of their house. After their land was taken in 2010, the pair moved to Pis, in order to work as labourers inside the sugar plantation. “The work is very hard and the pay is low. We work for ten hours a day and get 3,5 USD. It's like forced labour”, complains Chheuon. In exchange for her two hectares of land, Chheuon got a piece of land of 40x50 metres for her house, plus a compensation of 125 USD. Her daughter Lak, who would like to become a teacher, works in the plantation as well.
